With our short(er) session today, I hope to present some basic building skills, give you a building activity (hope you like snowmen!), and then challenge you to complete a couple more tasks. From this point perhaps we can meet in-world and get a feel for what it's like to communicate/collaborate in a virtual space.

1) Visit Northwestern Lehigh Beach. There you will find our virtual classroom, spread simply and elegantly under the palm trees. There you will find a sign written in Arabic. Click on it and accept the notecard. Thought question: If we could build a "Northwestern Lehigh" in a space where there is no gravity, no need for bathrooms or electricity, windows or doors or even walls, what would it look like?

2) Next, sit upon our virtual classroom carpet by right-clicking on the pose-ball atop on of the seats. The pie menu that comes up will give you the option to "Get Comfy". Choose that option and have a seat for a spell. You can then stand up by clicking, logically enough, "Stand Up".

3) Then, take one of the red pinstriped boxes on the beach. You can do this by right-clicking on the box and selecting "Take". Walk to an open area of our property where you have room to stretch out. Then select the Inventory button in the lower right hand corner of your viewer. The Inventory box will open. Find "Snow Man Builder Kit", click on the little box in the Inventory, and drag it out onto the land. Unpack the box, then use the tools I demonstrate to piece together the items into a snowman.

For next time, choose and complete four or more of the following tasks:

- Complete your snowman.
- Modify your avatar.
- Buy an item for your avatar and put it on.
- Make a friend.
- Join a group.
- Participate in an in-world event.
- Set a landmark at a location of your choice.
- Take a picture of a neat location or person in-world.

Some of these tasks are more or less intuitive. But if you need help, you can check out the Second Life Support Center, Second Life tutorial channels on YouTube, the Second Life Help Portal, or other online resources.
